Today marks the birth of the world's newest nation, Southern Sudan. As the world celebrates with the people of Southern Sudan, the challenge lies ahead, that of assisting steer forward this baby nation so she may grow to prudently exercise her freedom, ensuring true peace within her borders and with the international colleagues. Building the nation is Salva Kiir's mager challenge, given the fact that the region has been overlooked by the Omar Bashir led government for so long.
The fact that the international community has supported the birth of Southern Sudan should imbed in this community a sense of responsibility towards the new country so she may be encouraged until she can walk on her own. May peace reign in Southern Sudan, may peace reign in the world.
